Tift teams compete at cross country sectionals

ROCHELLE — Tift County’s cross country teams both finished in the top four Saturday in Region 1-6A, a meet that also brought in teams from three more regions for a sectional.

The Blue Devils were third of 1-6A’s six teams and ninth in the sectional rankings at a meet hosted by Class A-sized Wilcox County Schools. Tift’s Lady Devils were fourth in 1-6A and 16th in a 25-team field.

Richmond Hill swept the region titles.

State is this Saturday, Nov. 9, at Carrollton.

Owen Davies was the first Devil to cross the finish line, 19th overall in 16:19, according to results posted to MileSplit. Russ Benton was 39th in 16:52.

Henry Anderson turned in a time of 17:30 and Anthony Falotico was closed behind at 17:35. Jaxson Hughes ran in 17:52, Oscar Martinez in 18:07 and Joshua Hellman in 18:39.

For the Lady Devils, it was Lola Reynolds first to the finish line in 21:38. Illianna Cleveland had a time of 24:24, Emmalyn Lukas in 25:10, Jana Webster in 26:15, Alexa Maag in 28:36 and Claire Martin in 29:46.
