TIFTON — TCHS Principal Dr. Chad Stone has been refused a renewal of his contract with Tift County Schools by the Board of Education.

At the conclusion of their Jan. 11 meeting, board members moved to present Stone with a refusal to renew his contract through a unanimous vote.

Stone was also placed on a thirty day administrative leave with pay.

Board chair Jonathan Jones stated following the motion that the decision came as a result of the incident involving Stone last September, with the board being spurred by new information they had received that day, prior to their current meeting.

Jones stressed that the decision of the board did not reflect the opinions or actions of acting superintendent Dr. Jerry Baker or the incoming superintendent Natalie Gore, as neither had been involved in last year’s events.
