TIFTON — County commissioners accepted grant funds for their drug courts at their June 10 meeting.

The pair of grants from the Criminal Justice Coordinating Council will go towards supporting various divisions and needs of the Adult Felony and DUI drug courts.

Donna Ingram and Michelle Calhoun, coordinators for the Adult Felony Drug Court and DUI Drug Court, respectively, requested the acceptance of the grants during the previous county commission meeting June 4.

The Adult Felony Drug Court will receive $345,371, with $72,125 going to personnel, $175,491 to contract services, $35,000 for drug testing supplies, and $10,949 to travel and training, Ingram stated.

Calhoun reported that the DUI Drug Court would gain $146,794 through the grant, likewise divvying it out to personnel, supplies, contract services, and travel and training.

Both grants will require a 15% match from the county, with the grant for the Adult Felony Drug Court needing $34,898.62 and the DUI Drug Court grant needing $24,700.

Funds for this match will be taken from reserve, with the excess going to support the other financial obligations of the court the grants will not support.
