TIFTON — The Tift County Blue Devils wrestling team was elminated Friday afternoon at the state team duals in Macon.

The Devils had fallen in the first round of the tournament to North Forsyth, 51-12.

Moving into the consolation bracket, the Devils bounced back with a win — their 20th of the season — by defeating East Coweta, 40-33.

In the second consolation round, however, Tift County ran into Hillgrove, which eliminated them from the tournament by a 45-28 score.

Tift’s Region 1 rival, Camden County, advanced to the championship Friday and were scheduled to meet Archer in the finals Saturday afternoon.

Tift County will next wrestle in the Syrupmaker Invitational in Cairo next Saturday.
