TIFTON — Tim Alligood was named head football coach at Berrien Tuesday night.

Alligood, who becomes the 22nd coach in Rebels’ history, was an assistant at state runner-up Coffee in 2017. He had previously coached at Berrien, serving as defensive coordinator under Ed Pilcher. Alligood also has coaching experience at Fitzgerald and Tift County.

Alligood inherits a Berrien team that went 4-7 under previous head coach Bill Cribb last year and lost in the first round of the Class AA state playoffs. The appearance was Berrien’s fourth in state since the program began in 1954. The Rebels last and lone victory in state came in 1991.

Berrien will remain in Region 1-AA in 2018 with Fitzgerald, Thomasville, Early County and Brooks County.
