TIFTON — Planet Fitness unleashed its own Bulldog statue at its official ribbon cutting festivities on May 14.

The gym, which opened on Mar. 19, held its official ribbon cutting with the Tifton-Tift County Chamber of Commerce and welcomed community partners and members of the public to the facility.

In addition to prize giveaways, games and tours, gym manager Miranda Goode cut the ribbon on one of the Bulldog statues springing up around Tifton.

The statues are a way for area businesses to show support for the University of Georgia Tifton Campus, which is celebrating its centennial this year.

The Planet Fitness Bulldog, named Gear, sports the gym’s signature purple and yellow colors. Goode said she made sure that, even if the statue wasn’t traditional UGA colors, there was a Georgia “G” prominently displayed.
