TIFTON — Tift County Schools superintendent Adam Hathaway has officially resigned from his position.

At a special called meeting September 28, the members of the TCS Board of Education unanimously moved to accept Hathaway’s resignation.

Hathaway was not present at the meeting.

This decision comes in the wake of last week’s events, in which both Hathaway and Tift County High School principal Dr. Chad Stone were placed on administrative leave during a meeting held to discuss Stone’s announcement of his retirement with the community.

Despite only being placed on a five-day term of leave, Stone’s circumstances were not discussed at the most recent meeting.
