JAKES Day at Paradise Public Fishing Area

BROOKFIELD — Paradise Public Fishing Area the National Wild Turkey Federation announce the annual Outdoor Adventure Day and JAKES Day at Paradise Public Fishing Area on Sept. 23 for parents with children 15 years of age and younger.

Activities available will include adult-child fishing in Lakes Cup and Saucer, bass fishing in Lake Bowl where an experienced bass angler will be available to answer questions and help you learn how to catch bass.

Besides fishing there will be a supervised archery and skeet range with shotguns, Georgia Hunter Education BB gun range, Georgia Hunting and Fishing Federation fishing simulator, Georgia Forestry equipment display, ABAC Forestry Wildlife Exhibit, Georgia Herpetological Association and Rescue, Coastal Plain Regional Library System activities, Mell Baptist Association bouncy house, snacks and water, and a casting contest sponsored by the Tifton Bass Busters.

Fishing begins at 7:30 a.m. and ends at noon. Registration with the NWTF for prizes begins at 9 a.m. A free hotdog lunch will be provided by the National Wild Turkey Federation noon and prizes will be drawn shortly after.

Saturday, September 23 is the 51st annual National Hunting and Fishing Day and is a FREE fishing day for all Georgia residents. On this day, residents do not need a fishing license or a trout license to fish on any public waters in the state including lakes, streams, ponds, and public fishing areas (PFA).

Directions to Paradise PFA from Tifton: East on US Highway 82 for 8 miles to Brookfield. Turn right onto Whitley Road and travel approximately 100 yards; take the first left onto Brookfield-Nashville Road and travel 1.5 miles. Entrance to the area is on the left.
