Tifton man charged with counterfeiting

TIFTON — The Tifton Police Department has arrested a local man on counterfeiting charges.

According to a press release from the TPD, Foris Walker, 36, of Tifton, was arrested on Dec. 22.

The arrest was made with assistance from the United States Secret Service and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision after a joint investigation between the TPD’s Criminal Investigation Division and the US Secret Service, according to the release.

“This investigation led to Walker being charged with violating federal law 18 USC 472, Uttering Counterfeit Obligations or Securities (Counterfeit money) and the charge of Violating the conditions of State Probation,” the release stated.

Walker is currently being held at the Tift County Jail.

The investigation is still ongoing at this time. Police are urging businesses to be on the lookout for counterfeit money.
