TIFTON — Tift County soccer teams fell in their matches Friday, March 3 against Houston County.

The Blue Devils fell 2-0, while the Lady Devils were stopped, 7-0.

It’s been a series of closes matches for Tift’s boys team in 2023. They are 4-5-1 overall, with four of the five losses by two goals or less.

Tuesday will be crucial matches for the teams as they head to Thomas County Central. The Devils are 1-4 in Region 1-6A and currently in fifth place in the standings halfway through the season. A win against TCC (3-3, 2-2 in the region) could greatly help their chances of advancing to the state tournament.

At 5-5-1 and 2-3 in Region 1-6A, the Lady Devils are in better shape and in fourth place. They, too, could use wins over Thomas County Central to improve their odds of postseason play.

Thomas County Central is the only region date on the calendar for this week. Friday, March 10, they will play their traditional rivals, Colquitt County, in Moultrie. The next home date for Tift is March 14 against TCC.
