TIFTON — Tift County’s Disaster Recovery Center will close permanently on Saturday, Dec. 14.

Until then, the facility at the Tift County Swimming Pool, 202 Baldwin Drive, will provide help with applying for federal assistance in the wake of Hurricane Helene. Applicants can receive updates and learn about the appeals process there and at any remaining DRCs.

Residents can access the same services at any open DRC. All Georgia Disaster Recovery Centers are open 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday.

Once the DRC closes in Tifton, the nearest remaining site will be in Lowndes County, 4434 N. Forrest St. Extension in Valdosta.

Residents can also apply for assistance online at disasterassistance.gov, by phone (toll-free) at 1-800-621-3362, or via the FEMA app.

The absolute deadline to apply for disaster assistance related to Hurricane Helene is Jan. 7, 2025.
