Soccer wins, ties with Thomasville

TIFTON — It was a win and a tie for Tift County Blue Devils soccer teams Tuesday, Feb. 7. The Blue Devils blanked invading Thomasville, 2-0, while the Lady Devils earned a 1-1 tie.
The teams are gearing up for their first Region 1-6A matches, but when exactly is being worked out. Currently, Tift is to host Thomas County Central Friday at 5:30 p.m., but rain is predicted for that day and boys head coach Bobby Earls said they seeing if officials are available to work a day earlier.

Twelve minutes into the 1st contest, Adam Kone scored a goal on an assist from Talon Sparks. The score remained 1-0 for remainder of the half and more than 20 minutes of the next.
Isai Mendez added an insurance goal against the Bulldogs, said Earls.
Caroline Dotson had the Lady Devils goal in their contest, according to head coach Sherri Constable.
She said most of the game against Thomasville was played around midfield. “L.K. and Kim had an amazing game,” she said, referring to Laura Kate Wright and Kim Sanchez.
“I was pleased with the way we played,” Constable said. Injuries saw Tift have to play much younger on defense. They held up and the Lady Devils are 1-1-1 for the year. The Devils’ increased their record to 2-1-0.
