TIFTON — Tifton City Council welcomed new additions to its administration and changes to the city internet presence.
Mayor Julie Smith oversaw the appointment of two new board members, who were to be sworn in at the meeting. Dr. Charlotte Klesman, an assistant professor of arts and sciences at Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College, will be joining the public library board, while Louise Woodman was sworn in as the newest member of the historic preservation commission.
City Council was also viewed the City of Tifton’s new website through a presentation by Jonathan Taylor, IT director, and Kirsten McAlpin, marketing/PR manager, which gave an overview on many of the website’s new features.
In addition to a modernized front page and links to the social media of several associated organizations, “Report An Issue” and “Notify Me” sections were featured as new additions to help residents stay informed and involved.
The “Report An Issue” section would allow Tifton residents to report items or issues to the city. “Notify Me” would allow residents to stay informed on the website’s progress, keeping them updated on any changes or additions to any sections of the site, such as when the meeting agenda is updated.
Taylor and McAlpin emphasized the website is still a work in progress but added they will keep City Council informed with any further updates as work on the website continues.
