TIFTON — In the wake of many counties requesting amendments, the Tift County Board of Commissioners supports the suggested reform of Georgia’s Annexation Dispute Resolution Law.

Several commissioner boards across Georgia have made clear their concerns with the current regulations, namely citing the lack of updates and evident flaws.

The law has not been amended or updated for several years, leading many to believe it is outdated and some to fear it allows for exploitation and abuse all too easily, according to information from the county.

Tift County commissioners stated they stand with the rest of the Association of County Commissioners of Georgia in reforming the law, citing a similar set of concerns behind their motivation.

The resolution to support the reform will be further discussed at the County Commission’s next session.
