TIFTON – Tifton City Council plans to vote on the Service Delivery Agreement during its Nov. 2 meeting, Tifton City Clerk Jessica White said.

The Service Delivery Agreement is a state-mandated plan designed to consolidate duplicate services between cities and counties. Tift County and its municipalities, such as Tifton, have been one of the few cities and counties in Georgia unable to reach an agreement in the past few years.

The Tift County Board of Commissioners passed Resolution No. 2020-19, Joint Service Delivery Strategy on Wednesday Oct. 28. Now the resolution needs signatures from the city to make things official.

The resolution only focuses on non-emergency services and road maintenance. The resolution does not cover water and waste management. The county and city municipalities will come back to water and waste management if this resolution is passed.

The resolution on the table for City Council does not make changes to how the service of recreation is delivered. If a provision is needed, both the county and city can come back to it.

Tifton City Council meets at Tifton City Hall. People unable to attend due to concerns of social distancing can watch the video of the meeting on Youtube the following Wednesday, city officials said.
