GBI: Tifton man charged with murder, assault

TIFTON — A Tifton man has been charged in the death of another resident.

According to a statement released by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, Wayne Doyle, 38, was charged with malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer, attempted removal of a weapon from an officer, possession of firearm during commission of crime, and possession of firearm by convicted firearm in relation to the death of Anzley Gandy, 39.

Both men are residents of Tifton.

Tift County Sheriff deputies were dispatched to West 21st Street on reports of the death of one person and another suffering a gunshot wound.

Gandy was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment. Doyle was taken into custody and booked into the Tift County Jail.

An autopsy will be performed on Gandy at the GBI medical examiner’s office.
