TIFTON — A Tifton man has been charged with murder in a recent slaying.

Willie Goodman, 68, of Tifton is charged with felony murder and aggravated assault, according to a Georgia Bureau of Investigation statement.

Sunday, Feb. 27, the Tift County Sheriff’s Office asked the GBI to conduct a death investigation in connection to a woman’s death.

Tift County deputies responded to the 300 block of Wilson Street. When deputies arrived, they found Ethel Michelle Strawter, 59, suffering from a gunshot wound, according to the GBI. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Goodman is being held at the Tift County Jail, the GBI said. An autopsy will be performed on Strawter at the GBI Crime Lab in Atlanta.
