One charged in Waffle House murder

TIFTON — The Tifton Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division obtained felony warrants on Devonte Riggins, 21, for the murder of Waffle House employee Jesse Hall, according to a press release from the TPD.
On Aug. 5, two subjects attempted an armed robbery at the Waffle House located on the 700 block of West 7th St. in Tifton, the release stated. During the robbery, Hall was shot and died from the resulting wound.
Both Waffle House and the City of Tifton had offered a reward for information leading to the arrest, prosecution, and conviction of the people responsible for the murder.
Riggins was charged Nov. 21 with two counts of murder, two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of conspiracy to commit a felony armed robbery, criminal attempt to commit a felony armed robbery and felony theft by taking.
He was subsequently charged on Nov. 22 with an additional murder charge as well as receipt, possession or transfer of a firearm by a convicted felon or felony first attempt, felony first degree burglary and criminal attempt to commit a felony.
Riggins is currently in custody in the Tift County Jail.
