TIFTON — One person has died as a result of a shooting that occurred in downtown Tifton in the early hours of Monday morning.

According to reports, officers first arrived on the scene, located near the intersection of 3rd Street and Commerce Way, at approximately 2:30 a.m. to a report of shots fired.

Non-official reports say that there has been one fatality, one person is in the hospital and one person is in custody. No names or identifying information about anyone involved has been released at this time.

The Tifton Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is investigating the incident with assistance from the Georgia Bureau of Investigation.
