TIFTON — PB2 Foods, known for its powdered nut butter, has expanded the availability of its PB2 Performance line of products to brick-and-mortar retailers, including Kroger, Meijer and Woodman’s stores, following several months of positive online sales, according to a press release.
“The demand for PB2 Performance has been nothing short of impressive,” said Craig Entwistle, chief executive officer of Tifton-based PB2 Foods, in the release. “What started as a primarily e-commerce play has evolved into a full-scale offering, setting new levels of expectations for the entire category.”
PB2 Performance contains zero added sugar and is certified vegan, gluten-free, and kosher. It also is Non-GMO Project Verified.
“PB2 Performance boasts a full 20 grams of complete protein per 45-gram serving, without the need for pea protein or added sugars,” the release states.
It uses a combination of peanut, almond and brown rice proteins that together deliver the nine essential amino acids that bodies need to function optimally, according to the release.
“We pride ourselves on using real peanuts and almonds and no artificial flavoring to create the best-tasting plant-based protein on the market,” said Entwistle. “We don’t mind being a disruptor in that way.”
The product comes in two varieties: PB2 Performance Peanut Protein with Dutch Cocoa and PB2 Performance Almond Protein with Madagascar Vanilla.
Both products sport a clean label and contain just six ingredients each, including brown rice protein, inulin (a prebiotic fiber providing both functional and nutritional benefits), monk fruit extract (a natural, sugar-free sweetener), and salt. The peanut version features roasted peanuts and cocoa, while the almond variety contains almonds and natural Madagascar Vanilla flavor.
