TIFTON – Tift County Board of Elections and Registration completed the state-mandated hand recount of votes earlier this week.

The statewide hand recount ordered by Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger commenced Friday, Nov. 13, with Wednesday, Nov. 18, as the deadline for the recount to be complete.

Leila Dollison, the elections supervisor of Tift County, reported the numbers for the recount were exactly the same as the original count for the county from Election Day.

President Donald Trump (R) received 10,775 votes, Joe Biden (D) received 5,306 and Jo Jorgenson (L) received 175 votes, according to numbers from the Tift County elections office Nov. 3.

The recount went smoothly and was handled efficiently, Dollison said.

Both Democrat and Republican public observers were present for the recount and saw no issue with the process, Dollison reported. The recount for Tift County has already been certified.
