TIFTON — The Tift County Schools Board of Education praised the best and brightest of Tift County High School during the board’s most recent meeting.
Board members were proud to announce the year’s STAR Student, STAR Teacher, and valedictorian and salutatorian to the assembled community at their April 11 meeting.
Dana Spurlin, TCS chief information officer, first welcomed Ujvali Patel and Erin Davis to the front of the room to be recognized for becoming the year’s respective STAR Student and Teacher, an honor given to the senior student with the highest SAT score and the teacher most crucial to their academic success.
Spurlin additionally noted that Patel had also recently been named a Georgia Scholar by the state Department of Education.
Following this, she invited up Lindsey Kreschollek to be recognized as the high school’s valedictorian and Stephen Denham as its salutatorian. Spurlin reported that the two had been neck and neck in scores, with Kreschollek taking the lead by the smallest fraction of a point.
The teacher and three students were presented with certificates congratulating them on their efforts and dedication to their work.
