TIFTON — September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

The Tiftarea Jr. Pro and JV Panther Cheerleaders will be collecting donations throughout the month September.

All money collected will be donated to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.

On Thursday, Sept. 7, the Jr. pro and JV Cheerleaders had their Golden Games at the Panther Pit. They wore special t-shirts in support of Childhood Cancer Awareness. During the game, the cheerleaders proudly held up special signs bearing the name of a child who has either fought childhood cancer, is currently battling, or in memory of a child that was lost to childhood cancer.

All students and faculty were also encouraged to show their support as well by wearing gold.

The Tiftarea Booster Club sold specially made “Gold Out” t-shirts.

All proceeds from the sale of the shirts will also be donated to Childhood Cancer Awareness.

Donations are still being taken. People who want to donate may send in donations to Tiftarea Academy or drop them off by the office.
