SEATTLE -Welcome back to the big leagues, Cade Marlowe. The Seattle Mariners called up Marlowe Tuesday from AAA Tacoma.
Marlowe was recalled, along with outfielder Jonatan Clase and infielder Tyler Locklear, after a spate of Seattle injuries.
The Tiftarea Academy and West Georgia alum had been in AAA all season, hitting .235 for Tacoma while hitting 13 homers, driving in 45 runs and stealing 43 bases. He struggled the first part of the season, but had turned it around in July with a .298 average and two round-trippers..
Marlowe started for the Mariners Tuesday in right field, hitting a single in the eighth inning and drawing a walk against the Angels.
The call-up is his second time with the Mariners. Marlowe made his Major League debut July 20, picking up his first career hit July 24 and his first homer a day later. In 34 games, he hit .239, drove in 11 runs, mashed three homers, scored 14 runs and hit three doubles and two triples.
