At about 6 a.m., Aug. 25, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a 911 call in the 300 block of Sleepy Hollow Road in Douglas for a domestic dispute, a Georgia Bureau of Investigation statement said.
Officers spoke with a woman who said a man was under the influence of an unknown drug and waving a gun in front of her and her young son. Deputies made contact with the man inside the home and found a weapon in a backpack, the statement said.
After a struggle with officers, the man was arrested and transported to the Coffee County Jail. Once at the jail, the suspect became unresponsive and was transported to Coffee Regional Medical Center, the GBI said.
The man is charged with two counts of aggravated assault, one count of felony obstruction of officer, one count of felony interference with government property and one count of misdemeanor cruelty to child in the third degree, the GBI statement said.
There was no additional word on the man’s condition Wednesday, Sept. 1.
