What is Your Character?

We spend too much time working to promote a better self-image both physically and emotionally. But often we forget to work on our character.
Do you know that God has a personality? For our character to become like His, there are requirements we first must understand. We can’t do it on our own. Only in Christ can any character come into agreement with God. As people of God, have we wondered what others see when they look at us?

Do they see that there is nothing against the law concerning the fruit of the spirit, love, joy, peace, long suffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control…? (Galatians 5:22-23). You may ask, how do I reach this goal? It is a process! The Bible says, “Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation: old things have passed away; behold all things have become new.” (2 Corinthians 5:17)
When we invite Christ to come into our hearts and ask him to forgive us of our sins, that is the first requirement. Ask Him to help us forgive ourselves as well as others. Since all things have become new, begin to pray and read the Bible daily. Learn how to give him praise and thanksgiving for the new you.
Here is another characteristic of God: He is integrity! He is truth! We can always take Him at His word. “Let integrity and uprightness preserve me, for I wait for you.” (Psalm 25:21) As the process of change begins to take place, we learn the new way of doing things in our life.
We learn to walk in integrity. No matter what the situation becomes, we wait accordingly on the word of God. “The truthful lips shall be established forever, but a lying tongue is but for a moment.” (Proverbs 12:19) Truth will always be the same, and it comes into agreement with the word of God. When we stand on our word, things can happen, but when we stand on the word of God things always remain the same.
“For the promises of God in Him are yea, and in Him amen; to the glory of God through us.” (2 Corinthians 1:20) He is faithful to bring His word to pass at an appointed time. As we wait on the promises of God, we are seeking His word in prayer, in praise, and in thanksgiving, and we then begin to witness the changes taking place in ourselves and others.
We recognize the changes, and we acknowledge the changes in our character. In this process, we develop the character of God.
