WARNER ROBINS — Tift County’s Blue Devils kept their undefeated streak going Tuesday night on the road and the Lady Devils put in a solid showing in their match.

The Devils tied Veterans High at Freedom Field, 1-1, with the girls falling, 4-1.

“We started strong,” said Lady Devils head coach Sherri Constable. She thought they got more nervous as the match progressed.

Kiondria Haggins netted the team’s goal early in the first half.

Head coach Bobby Earls naturally would have preferred to get the ‘W’ against the Warhawks, but said in a text he was “very pleased with our character and effort.”

Manny Marin scored Tift’s goal with 20 minutes left to go in the game. Veterans had gone ahead 1-0 with a goal with 10 seconds remaining in the first half.

“We showed character to come from behind,” he said. “Hopefully learned something from this.”

Veterans had entered with a 4-1 record. The Blue Devils are now 2-0-1.

Tift’s road trip continues this weekend with matches Friday and Saturday at Marietta and Dutchtown, respectively. They will be back at home Tuesday to face Valdosta.
