Where’s the support?
“I know that the woman who organized the Armadillo Roundup in Enigma worked hard. I was very disappointed that none of the elected officials of the city bothered to make an appearance and support the event. All I heard was fussing about children and dogs running around. I don’t understand why people in leadership positions there don’t support citizens when they try to do something to better the place. Everyone that didn’t come missed a good time.”
Greed 101
“This comment is to the (person) that thinks economics 101, supply and demand, controls everything. Supply and demand can be and is being trumped by greed 101. The CEOs of some of the major oil companies draw a salary of over $30 million per year, plus millions in bonuses. Our economy is headed downhill fast. Does your economics 101 have anything in it about recession or depression?”
Clear the way
“While traveling west on 19th Street, which I do some days, I noticed that there is a basketball goal in the westbound lane and I was wondering if someone with the sheriff’s department or somebody could notify these parents that they are not supposed to let their kids put basketball goals in the road… Also, I noticed on the west end of 19th Street that some of the residents on that street leave their trash strewn in front of their house from week to week. Would somebody with the sanitation department please notify them …that they are supposed to put their trash drums out on the day of trash pick up and then move their trash cans back in the yard after their trash is picked up.”
No commitment
“This is for the person who said they need to make a commitment to the subs. I used to be a sub and you are told on the very first day that it is a day to day job and that you have no commitment and they have no commitment. If you don’t like it, get another job.”
Get involved
“To …’Whose Right?,’ please know that you need to get more involved in what is going on in the community. …The reason why the Elliotts’ side is half on their home and half in the yard is because the contractor took it on himself to apply the vinyl siding without any of the necessary permits to do so. …When you don’t get a building permit from the city, you are not paying your fair share to the city. When you don’t get a certificate of appropriateness from the Historic Preservation Commission, you are hurting your neighbors’ efforts to preserve Tifton’s precious history. Once our history is gone, it’s gone. “
Wonderful coach
“Concerning the rant about our coach at Tiftarea, we have a wonderful coach. After each game, home or away, he gathers the opposing team, their coach, their parents and many fans in the center of the field for prayer, no matter the outcome of the game. Concerning the game, coach Moore asked the kids what they wanted to do, whether they wanted to go for the win or not. Matthew himself volunteered and said he wanted to kick the ball. He let the young men help make the decision. He is not only building a football program, he is building character. Thanks Coach Moore for all that you do.”
