VALDOSTA — South Georgia should see clear skies and gradually warming temperatures this week — up until the point when another cold front moves through.

A high pressure system is keeping skies clear for the moment, said Wright Dobbs, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service’s Tallahassee, Fla., office.

Daytime high temperatures will rise from the mid-50s in Valdosta on Tuesday to 68 on Thursday, with lows climbing from a sub-freezing 27 Tuesday to 40 Wednesday night.

“The temperatures are going to be a minor rollercoaster,” Dobbs said.

Thursday evening a cold front will move through South Georgia, pulling highs back into the mid 50s and lows into the mid to lower 30s across the region into early next week. There will also be a slight chance of showers Thursday, Dobbs said.

He said there was little chance of any widespread severe weather.
