Kaye Weaver

COLQUITT — Martha C. “Kaye” Weaver, 48, of Colquitt, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Miller Nursing Home.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. today at Colquitt Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Jimmy Voyles will officiate. Burial will follow at Rawls Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Trey Grimes, Ashley Weaver, Pat King, Danny Carter, Don Lane and Kevin Hall.

Born Nov. 19, 1953, in Moultrie, Miss Weaver was the daughter of Mary Weaver Walker of Colquitt and the late Ralph Eugene Weaver.

She worked as a social worker at Green Oaks Center in Moultrie for 22 years and was a member of Colquitt First Baptist Church.

Miss graduated from Norman Park High School, attended ABAC in Tifton and graduated from Georgia Southwestern University in Americus.

Along with her mother, she is survived by one brother, John Weaver of Colquitt; three sisters, Lyn Weaver, Carolyn W. Soto and Anne Weaver, all of Macon; three nieces, Amy Grimes, Haley Weaver and Ali Vaughn; and two nephews, Ashley Weaver and Trey Grimes.

Mildred Griner

OCILLA — Mildred Amelia Schloss Griner, 99, of Ocilla, died Thursday, July 25, 2002, at Palemon Gaskins Memorial Nursing Home in Ocilla.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Ocilla United Methodist Church. Entombment will follow at the Griner Family plot in Brushy Creek Cemetery in Irwin County.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight and Sunday at Paulk Funeral Home in Ocilla.

Born July 5, 1903, in Portsmouth, Ohio, Mrs. Griner was the daughter of Louis Charles and Emma Bertha Schloss, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Otto Griner, an Ocilla banker, legislator and manufacturer.

Mrs. Griner met her husband-to-be while attending a college classmate’s wedding in Fitzgerald in 1926.

She was educated at Sullins College in Bristol, Va., and the Louisville Conservatory of Music. Mrs. Griner was an accomplished pianist and organist. She had a lifelong interest in travel and had visited virtually all the nations of the world on over 20 extended trips abroad.

Mrs. Griner had been a resident of Palemon Gaskins Nursing Home for the past three years.

She is survived by her daughter, Amelia Griner Williams; two granddaughters, Amelia Williams Koch and Caroline Williams Burns; two great-grandchildren, Amelia Challis Koch and John Albin Koch; and several nieces and nephews in Ohio and Georgia.

Carol Kendrick

TIFTON — Carol Robertson Cheek Kendrick, 63, of Tifton, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Northside Baptist Church. Dr. Fred Evers, the Rev. Eddie Allen and the Rev. Melvin McDaniel will officiate. Burial will follow at Tift Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Josh Massey, Hubert Massey, Jack Mooney, John Pardon, Donald Harris and John Bennett.

Honorary pallbearers will be the Department of Transportation employees.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, Tiftarea Chapel.

Born Dec. 21, 1938, in Clay County, Ala., Mrs. Kendrick was the daughter of Lois Long Robertson of Tifton and Ambers O. Robertson, who died in 1970. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Lewis Cheek, who died April 9, 1992, and one infant daughter.

Mrs. Kendrick was senior secretary at the Department of Transportation and a member of Northside Baptist Church of Tifton.

A resident of Tifton most of her life, she was also a member of the Georgia Department of Transportation Engineers Association and Tiftarea Chapter of Professional Secretaries.

Along with her mother, Mrs. Kendrick is survived by her husband, Harvey Kendrick of Tifton; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Kenneth Lewis Cheek, Keith and Holly Kendrick and Kyle Kendrick, all of Tifton,; three daughters, Kemberly Carter of Augusta and Carla Kendrick and Keria Kendrick, both of Tifton; one sister, Martha Massey of Tifton; and four grandchildren, Blake and Tyler Cheek





of Tifton and Katherine and Stephen Kendrick of Tifton.

Roy B. Heyerdahl

TIFTON — Roy Bertrand Heyerdahl, 77, of Tifton, died Wednesday, July 24, 2002, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. The Rev. Jay Roberson and the Rev. Sam Rogers will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakridge Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Steve Gill, Bobby Cooper, Dr. Bob Bowman, Phillip Belflower, Greg Smith and DeNean Stafford. Honorary pallbearers will be the Loyalty Sunday School class of First United Methodist Church.

Born Aug. 25, 1924, in Dallas, Texas, Mr. Heyerdahl was the son of Ragnar Heyerdahl and Dorrith Mortenson Heyerdahl, both deceased.

A longtime resident of Tifton, he was a technician at Proctor and Gamble and a member of First United Methodist Church in Tifton, where he was past president of the Loyalty Sunday School class.

Mr. Heyerdahl graduated from Ocala, Fla., High School, where he was captain of the football team, and from Florida State University. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theater of Operations as a Quartermaster First Class.

Mr. Heyerdahl was a member of the Tifton Exchange Club, a former chairman of the Downtown Tifton Merchants Association, a Little League baseball coach and high school football referee.

He is survived by his wife, Henrietta Heyerdahl of Tifton; one son and daughter-in-law, Rod and Linda Heyerdahl of Tifton; one daughter and son-in-law, Janet and Steve Gill of Tifton; one brother-in-law, Wallace P. Smith of Pensacola, Fla.; one granddaughter and grandson, Christy and Bobby Cooper of Moultrie; and two great-grandchildren, Lance and Ivey Cooper of Moultrie.

Henry L. Webb

TIFTON — Henry Lindsey Webb, 79, of Tifton, formerly of Quitman, died Friday, July 26, 2002, at Tift Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors. The Rev. Joseph L. Crumley will officiate. Burial will follow at Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery in Cecil.

Pallbearers will be David Manders, Greg House, Roy Webb, Dewey Sexton, Kenneth Burgess, Christopher House and Willie Manders.

The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at Albritton-Beaumont Funeral Directors, Tiftarea Chapel.

Born July 26, 1923, in Brooks County, Mr. Webb was the son of Ben Picket Webb Sr. and Ruth Mae Piland Webb, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Ruth Jones Webb, and one brother.

A resident of Tifton for five years, Mr. Webb was retired from the City of Quitman Public Works and from farming. He was a member of the Holiness faith.

Mr. Webb is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Clayton and Betsy Webb of Tifton; six daughters and three sons-in-law, Mary R. Woodard and Barbara and Roy Webb, all of Tifton, Jeannette and Jim Whistler of Lafayette, Ind., Diane Rieder and Elizabeth and Frank Davis, all of Savannah and Sandy Hansson of Irondal, Mo.; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
