D-I-S-A-B-L-E-D

“This is for ‘New Word.’ The food stamp mentality crowd, some of them are D-I-S-A-B-L-E-D.

In disguise?

“I enjoyed that politician crawfishing in ‘Where Were They?’ I am a believer, like the other person. I sat near that yellow ribbon booth for three hours and I didn’t see them, but I know they were there. No one could see them. Probably because they were in disguise.”

Drugs and driving

“Regarding Mr. Patrick’s letter to the editor in the Gazette, in my opinion, prescription drugs, illegal drugs, alcohol, are all very dangerous when operating a vehicle. I don’t think it matters that they were prescribed medicine. (His son) shouldn’t have been driving under the influence of prescribed medication.”

Thanks for power

“I have a rave for all of the electricians who work for power companies who were out at midnight during Hurricane Dennis working on our power lines to make sure we had electricity during the night. Thank you and keep up the good work.”

Learn ‘work’

“This is to the person who said that people who receive food stamps need to learn the word work. I work every day two part-time jobs and attend two schools full-time to better myself. I receive food stamps proudly every month because my income exceeds my bills every month. I don’t get help from anyone or look for handouts, but I do appreciate the system helping those trying to get an education to try to make a difference in this world. Educate yourself on the system before you start to throw stones at people who do receive benefits from the government because everyone on food stamps aren’t lazy bums looking for a handout.”

Overcrowding?

“Mr. Golden, I would like to know exactly how many teachers’ children are causing these overcrowding problems. It is hard to believe that hard-working, well-behaved children are creating this massive over-crowding problem. Just remember, these are the students, teachers and parents rewarding the system with good test scores, not you or the personnel at the county office.”

Good medical service

“I want to rave about a good service we have here in Tifton, Ga., Tifton Medical Center. That whole staff and the registration and all that do the surgery, and Dr. Don Roberts for what a good job he did. I can’t understand why people run out of town to doctors and hospitals when we have the finest here in Tifton. I want to thank all of ya’ll for the great service y’all for the great service ya’ll did for me yesterday, the 12th. Have a nice day and thank you.”

Enigma Police tried?

“This is in reference to Tuesday’s ‘Where Were They?’ They had called for extra help from the sheriff’s department and the Georgia State Patrol and they did not get any response. Everyone who helped out, Enigma Volunteer Fire Department, the police and the citizens, were patrolling and had to deal with kids and parents smoking dope, drinking and being unruly. They could not be everywhere at once. I think they did a great job, but I’m sorry the lady did get hit and I hope she is OK. Also, thanks for the great fireworks.”
