Looking good
“Kudos to whomever is performing the clean-up and restoration of the Lankford Manor. It has been an eyesore for years but looks really good now.”
Have a heart
“If you drive in town slow enough where people live, you will see a lot of people that have no heart. Dogs in pens so small they have no room to exercise and never get out. Others tied and never turned loose. Why have a dog to not spend time with, just to cost money to feed. The poor animal is just dying a slow cruel death of loneliness. Believe it or not animals love, hurt and are lonely without us spending time loving and playing with them. If you don’t, give them to someone who will. It’s a shame that adults have to be told this, but maybe some have no heart.”
We must compete
“I’m glad that our local leaders are working to attract new industry to our area. America must compete. The world economy appears to be coming in for a landing. We should try to soften the bump to our local economy by offering bond-funded enticements for new industry. At the very worst, we’ll repay these bonds with cheaper dollars.”
Keep it up
“A rave goes out to Coach Blackshear and the Cook County Hornets! The fans came out in droves to show support — and Friday night’s Hornet Blackout was awesome! Thanks, Coach, for building up the kids and the program. Others only wish they had you; but we’re grateful to have you. Keep up the hard work.”
Bring it on
“In response to teachers first: You can test me any day, anytime and anyplace. I have nothing to hide. If they test students and find drugs, they should also go and test the parents. How would you like that. Bring it on!!!!!!!!!”
Taste of home
“ I just finished reading an article on line about the high country of North Carolina, and was thrilled to see it was from the Tifton, Ga. where I attended ABAC! I lived in Tifton for two years back in the early ‘70s and loved it! I have now been in Valle Crucis for 20 years and work for the Mast General Store you mentioned in the article. I love this area, but I still have warm feelings for my Georgia roots. — Susan Benson”
