TIFTON – Each year during the month of February, Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church celebrates Black History and focused on achievements of notable African Americans.
In keeping with Dr. Carter G. Woodson’s desire to inform America of the true place of Blacks in American history, Shiloh disseminates information about Black life, history and culture to the community. The national theme this year is “Black Health and Wellness.” The 2022 theme considers activities, rituals and initiatives that Black communities have done to stay well, church representatives said in a statement.
In keeping with this year’s national theme, an individual that has a health field background is introduced during the Black History Spotlight each Sunday.
During its Black History Celebration each year, Shiloh invites a graduate of Tift County High School to deliver the keynote address on the third Sunday in February.
Dr. Bobby Jermaine Price, a 1998 Tift County High School graduate will be speaker at the 11 a.m. worship service Sunday, Feb. 20.
Price is the son of Bobby Price and Jerlena Holloway-Hurley and father of a daughter, Rasheed Price.
After graduation from high school, Price enrolled at Georgia State University and graduated from there with double bachelor of science degrees in chemistry and exercise science in 2002.
He later enrolled in the Pharmacy School at Mercer University and graduated with his Pharm D in 2010. Price is also certified as a plant-based nutritionist by Cornell University. He has extensive clinical experience in the hospital setting, one-on-one patient contact in community pharmacy and health care regulatory experience with the Food and Drug Administration.
“After personally experiencing the healing powers of a plant–based lifestyle several years ago, Dr. Price was inspired to adopt a more holistic approach to healing others,” church representatives said. “Since that time he has traveled the world studying with herbalists, shamans and spiritual gurus learning the magical art of healing the mind, body and soul.
“Now instead of filling synthetic prescriptions, he uses plant-based foods, medicinal herbs and simple holistic techniques to help others restore their wellbeing.”
Price is the owner of Holistic Re-Engineering, which is a herbal supplements and wellness company and is also the author of a bestseller, “Vegucation Over Medication.” His website is www.drbobbyprice.com. He holds membership in numerous public service and professional organizations including Omega Psi Phi Fraternity.
The Rev. Rudolph Porter, pastor, and members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church invite the public to attend. The church is located at 2113 Southern Ave. Persons attending are asked to wear masks. A mask will be provided to those who do not have one with them.
