KINGSLAND – Tift County’s Blue Devils secured the Region 1-7A championship Wednesday night, defeating Camden County in overtime, 2-1.

This is the second consecutive region crown for the Devils (13-1-1, 5-0 in 1-7A). They will face Camden again Friday night to wrap the regular season. If Tift wins that match, they will finish undefeated in the region for the second consecutive season.

Jonathan Salazar scored on a free kick in overtime to break the tie, according to head coach Bobby Earls.

The Devils’ other goal came from Alex Cardoso on a penalty kick in the first half.

Tift is 10th in Score Atlanta’s Class 7A soccer rankings, the first time they have made the list during their run over the past two seasons.
