TIFTON — Tift County’s Lady Devils are moving on in golf to sectionals, but the Blue Devils were eliminated as a team Monday.

Head coach Rusty Smith reported his team shot 278, which qualified them for the next round. Lowndes won the tournament at 244. Colquitt County finished at 254 and Alpharetta came in at 261.

Bo Carpenter will play in the upcoming state tournament, according to boys head coach Caleb Rice, but the team’s 320 score was not low enough to move on. Carpenter, however, was dazzling, shooting a 1-under 71.

Tift’s best shot was Maggie Harrelson, who finished at 86, according to Smith. Bri Domagala was close at 90 and Kailey Medina shot 102.

The area tournament took place at Osprey Cove Golf Club and was hosted by Camden County. Sectionals will take place at Kinderlou Forest next week. Boys area took place at Eagle Watch Golf Club in Woodstock.

Carpenter competes at state May 16-17 at Gainesville’s Chattahoochee Golf Club.
