CHULA — Times have been announced for Tiftarea Academy’s second round baseball series. The Panthers will host Brookwood Friday and Saturday, with the winner moving on to the final four.

Friday’s game will be at 6 p.m., Saturday’s at 2 p.m. If a third game is needed, it will be played Saturday afternoon as well.

Tiftarea, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, carries a 17-6 record. The Warriors are 11-13. Brookwood entered as the 11th seed, but upset Trinity Christian in the first round.

Isaac Richardson had eight RBIs over the three games, including four in Brookwood’s 10-8 series-clinching victory.

The Panthers needed just two games, eight innings and three hours to eliminate Notre Dame Academy in the first round. Tiftarea outscored the visitors 32-1, including 19-0 in the opener. Hayden Murphy hit a leadoff homer in each game, John Austin Lee had an inside-the-park grand slam and Logan Moore also went deep.

Tiftarea won the regular season series, 2-1, over Brookwood. Two games were played in Thomasville.

The winner of this series advances to the semifinals of the GISA Class AAA tournament and will face either John Milledge Academy or Dominion Christian. If Tiftarea and Dominion win, the games will be in Chula. If it’s Tiftarea and John Milledge, the contests move to Milledgeville.
