TIFTON — Residents of Tifton are in for the show of a lifetime when legendary rock band ZZ Top comes into town later this month.

The iconic “little ol’ band from Texas” will be performing live at the John Hunt Auditorium at the University of Georgia Tifton Campus Conference Center March 26, dazzling fans with their signature sound and showmanship as they’ve been doing for over 50 years.

Formed in 1969 from the merging of two other bands by Billy Gibbons, Frank Beard, and the late Dusty Hill, ZZ Top has been among the biggest names of rock and roll since, earning one of the first Diamond albums of the music industry with 1983’s Eliminator, selling millions of records over the band’s long career, and being inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Even those unfamiliar with the band may recognize some of their most iconic songs like “Sharp Dressed Man” and “Legs” from their popularity and prominence in pop culture.

Attendants of this upcoming concert will be treated to the full experience of the band, with Gibbons and Beard eagerly bringing their tone, taste, and tenacity to the stage while Elwood Francis takes up the bass in honor of Hill.

The performance will be accompanied by an opening show from Derrick Dove & the Peacekeepers, a southern rock and blues band with ties to Tifton through frontliner Derrick Dove.

Acclaimed in their own right through their album Rough Time, which topped Blues charts in the U.S. and Spain, the band is set to excite the crowd with performances from their newest album, Burn it Down, some of their older tracks, and according to Dove, a few surprises.

Dove himself is eager to perform in the concert, both to bring his band’s music to the stage and for the chance to play alongside a longstanding idol of his.

“It’s kind of a lifelong dream come true, opening for ZZ Top,” he said. “It’s going to be fun.”

The concert will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets may be purchased online at freshtix.com or by calling (678)701-6114.
