Tift tennis sweeps Irwin

OCILLA — The Tift County tennis teams journeyed to Irwin County Monday and came back not only with a double victory, but wins in all 10 matches.

The Lady Devils did not falter in a single set at Irwin.

Caydence Gabel won, 6-0, 7-5 at No. 1 singles. At the other singles posts, Brayden Callison was victorious, 6-4, 6-0 and Anna Claire Owens won, 6-1, 6-3.

In doubles, Anna Lupo and Kylei Cutts combined, 7-5, 6-6 (7-4) and Fatima Williams and Molly Wells made it a sweep at 6-3, 6-3.

For the Blue Devils, Ben Wilson and Ross Peters won in straight sets. Peters triumphed, 7-5, 6-1 with Wilson winning at 6-1, 6-2. Maitrey Patel battled back after faltering in the first set (6-3) for 6-4, 10-9 set triumphs.

Cole Murray and Nathan Beck won at No. 2 doubles, earning the second and third sets, 6-3, 10-3, after falling in the first, 7-5. Tyson Lassiter and Christian Mathis won their initial set, 6-4, dropped the middle, 6-1, then earned the third, 10-7.

Tift tennis was scheduled to travel to Thomas County Central Wednesday and host Irwin next Monday.
