TIFTON — Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College’s Stallions will open the 2022 baseball season at home Friday in a doubleheader.

The Stallions are set to take on St. Johns River State College (Fla.), starting at 2 p.m. These will be the first regular season games under new head coach Matthew Williams. Williams took over for Brandon Reeder last summer.

ABAC finished 19-29 in 2021, but did end on a high note, a no-hitter by R.J. Delaney in the regular season finale against South Georgia State. The Stallions last won the GCAA championship in 2018.

Following the opening series, ABAC will return the favor and travel to St. Johns River Sunday for two games. They will head back to Florida for various games between Feb. 5-11 before coming home for a Feb. 12 doubleheader against USC Salkehatchie.

In addition to the Stallions, the Fillies will also begin their softball season Friday.

They will be at JUCO Kickoff in Clearwater, Fla., for four games over Friday and Saturday, Eastern Florida State and State College of Florida Manatee-Sarasota on the first day. Saturday, they take on Northwest Florida State and Daytona State.

It will be some time before locals will be able to see the Fillies in their own stadium. After the showcase, their schedule shoes a slew of games in Florida and Alabama before they finally get to host St. Johns River State for a pair Feb. 23.
