Lady Devils improve to 4-0 in region competition

VALDOSTA – The Tift County Lady Devils returned to their winning ways Friday night, defeating Lowndes in Valdosta, 65-55.

The Blue Devils dropped their game against Lowndes, 53-42, according to the score posted on MaxPreps. Both Tift teams will play at Sumter County Saturday.

Tift’s girls were dynamic at the free throw line in the fourth quarter for the final margin. They hit 11 of 17 at the stripe over the final eight minutes. Caitlyn Burgess hit all four of her free throws and Mya Cushion was 3-of-4.

Shakiria Chaney’s 22 points led the way for the Lady Devils, who are now 4-0 in the region. Braxton Gipson scored 14 and Tamyra Carter added 11.

Tift led 33-27 at the half, 49-45 after three frames.
