Another reason
“The devil probably looks more like you and me than some blue character. The Blue Devils were soldiers in an elite battalion of French Alpine light infantry in World War I. If we are going to change our name for any reason, it should because we’re named after the French.”
Quote of the Day
“The short memories of American voters is what keeps our politicians in office. — Will Rogers”
Easter fun
“Thanks for two great Easter Egg Hunts this weekend! The Tift County Recreation Department did a great job. We also enjoyed the one at the Branch home on Sunday for First Baptist Church. Thanks again!”
Do it right
“Whether ‘84 years’ likes it or not, the Blue Devil is implicitly, if not explicitly associated with sin and Satan. Mirriam-Webster defines the word ‘devil’ as ‘the personal supreme spirit of evil often represented in Jewish and Christian belief as the tempter of humankind, the leader of all apostate angels, and the ruler of hell; an evil spirit; a demon; or an extremely wicked person.’ What other meaning can devil have other than the devil himself (Satan) or one of his minions? Just because we have done something wrong for 84 years is not a justifiable reason to keep doing it wrong. Although we often consciously think of our devil as Satan, isn’t that exactly what Dr. Hellman reminds us that Satan wants.”
Heads high
“This is a Rave for the Len Lastinger administrative staff, teachers and paraprofessionals. The children are always No. 1 in everything. They work very hard and diligently to give the best education possible to their students. A lot of hard work and long hours are given toward their children and they are a very loving and caring staff. Continue to do what you do best and hold your head high. We are proud of what you do.”
Media’s job
“The Gazette and other media in the area should be commended for their never-ending quest to report accurate, honest and comprehensive news regarding what our governments are doing.
It is the media’s job to protect and preserve the public’s right to know and keep on asking the tough questions. Ben Franklin said it best,”I had rather live in a country with no government
and a free press than a country with government and no free press.’”

Thumbs up
“Two thumbs up for Mr. Barber!! His wonderful way with teaching kids to love music continues since I was in his class so long ago. He is really committed, diligent, and is a man we all respect and admire. TCHS and countless students are really blessed to have such a leader.”
