TIFTON — The Tiftarea YMCA 17th Annual Father Daughter Dance was held on Feb. 7 at the University of Georgia’s Tifton Campus Conference Center.
The theme of this year’s dance was a masquerade, and many of the attendees honored that, wearing masks and long gloves for the occasion.
Tiftarea YMCA Executive Director Darian Peavy said there was a total of 851 in attendance.
“This was the 1st year with 3rd grade & younger from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 4th grade and older from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.,” Peavey said in an email.
They decided to stagger the times in order to accommodate the variety of ages. The younger girls had music and food that were tailored just for them, and the older girls had a more elegant experience.
“This event is truly a blessing to see father and daughters putting the detail in their attire to meet the theme each year and spending quality time on the dance floor,” Peavy said. “This is an annual event for fathers and daughters each year, with one of the fathers having attended the event for 11 straight years. I appreciate the Tiftarea YMCA staff, board, event committee, volunteers, UGA Conference staff, BJ Smith with catering, Sidney Comer photography, and Kyle from After Hours production for making this an special event this year.”
