Lady Devils to play at Norcross Saturday

TIFTON — A date and time have been announced for Tift County’s second round basketball game. The Lady Devils will play at Norcross Saturday at 4 p.m., according to head coach Julie Conner.
Tift (16-8) advanced to the second round with a 49-41 overtime win over North Paulding on Tuesday. Norcross (22-5) defeated Roswell in a first round game, 54-45, on Wednesday.

Four players did nearly all the damage for Norcross’ Lady Blue Devils, scoring 51 of their 54 points. Zaria Hurston, a DePaul basketball commit, led with 17 points.
Should Tift survive this round, they would either host Peachtree Ridge or travel to Brookwood in Snellville.
Norcross will have two teams active at the same time. Their boys will play Lowndes Saturday at 3:30 p.m. in Valdosta. Lowndes defeated North Paulding in the first round, 67-39. Before the Vikings play, the Vikettes host Archer at 2 p.m.
Tift and the Lowndes teams are the only ones from Region 1-7A to make it out of the first round.
The Vikettes defeated Marietta, 65-55.
Tift’s Blue Devils lost a late lead at Marietta Wednesday evening, falling 54-50. Head coach Tommy Blackshear said his team was up by three points in the last two minutes before Marietta charged back.

Colquitt County’s girls fell to Harrison, 63-34, while the boys lost at Walton, 60-29.
Camden County, which was looking for its first state win since 1975, will have to wait at least one more year after Hillgrove defeated them at home, 46-34. The Lady ‘Cats made the opposite trip, falling at Hillgrove, 65-33.
