Tift triumphs over TCC in tennis

TIFTON — Tift County’s tennis teams won nine of 10 matches Monday, en route to a sweep against Thomas County Central.
The Lady Devils won all five of their battles, with the Blue Devils taking four.

Fatima Williams and Molly Wells had the most perfect of days for Tift. At No. 2 doubles, the duo did not give up a game, with 6-0, 6-0 sets. Brayden Callison nearly duplicated this feat at No. 2 singles. She won, 6-0, 6-1.
Caydence Gabel won at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-2, with Kylei Cutts and Anna Lupo earning their victory, 6-0, 6-4.
Anna Claire Owens completed the sweep with the most exciting match of the afternoon. She fell in her first set, 6-1, but evened the count, 6-2. Owens earned the tiebreaker, 10-6 for the comeback victory.
The Blue Devils swept Thomas County Central in singles matches Monday, with Maitrey Patel, Ben Wilson and Ross Peterson all victorious in straight sets.
Peters won, 6-0, 6-4 at No. 3 singles. Wilson earned his match at 6-1, 6-0, with Patel’s win coming at a 7-3, 6-3 count.
The doubles duo of Christian Mathis and Rhett Stephenson won their match, 6-3, 6-1. Tyson Lasseter and Nathan Beck kept their match close, but ultimately fell, 7-5, 9-7.
