Sam Booth had a trophy and now has a ring for bowling 300 at Tift County Lanes.

TIFTON — Tifton’s Sam Booth now has a ring to go with his recent 300 game at Tift County Lanes, though not an official one.

Perfect game bowlers are usually given a ring for their achievement, but, said Bill Johnson, Booth’s night happened to be unsanctioned. Only sanctioned games by the United States Bowling Congress are eligible. “He didn’t get [an official] ring,” said Johnson.

That took nothing away from Booth’s achievement, though.

He is “the first youth to bowl 300,” he said. Not only that, “he’s the youngest youth to ever bowl 300” at Tift County Lanes.

While there won’t be an official ring for Booth, he is now wearing one, courtesy of Johnson.

“I have him one of my 300 rings,” he said. It happens to be a perfect for Booth’s hand. “It fit his finger,” said Johnson.

Booth’s 300 game was Aug. 15. A bowler for three years, the 14-year-old also rolled a 679 series for that night.
